New York Times Article- Adultescent. By John Tierney

The main point of the article is that many Americans today are still living life adults. The name of people like them is called a Adultescent. These people are infatuated with video games and other childish entertainments like cartoons.

Adults in my opinion are more engrossed in video games today because the graphics and storylines of the games are geared at a older age group. The games are more realistic looking and sounding. Also, purchasing a game system and a few games is cheaper then going out Friday and Saturday night to a movie or a bar. People look for the most entertaining thing to do that requires the least amount of energy given.

Four million Americans between the ages of 24-35 are still living with their parents. They are not always happily residing there and some even have to share a room with a younger sibling.

Many of these people are living at home unwillingly. The article discusses that when people live at home they are encumbered by rent and that leaves lots of disposable income to spent on material items. The article doesn't discuss enough about the income can sometimes be too small for the individual to live on there own. Rents are at an all time high, especially in New York City. I couldn't even fathom an apartment on my own working in a retail store. That is even if the person has a job, plenty of college graduates cannot find good paying jobs after graduation.

Since 1970, the median age for Americans to marry has risen four years, to 25 for women and 27 for men. For people in their early 30's who have never married has tripled.

5. I believe the reason for the decrease in marrying for twenty something Americans

is due to the higher demand in the job market for Graduate degrees and even Doctorates. To achieve that level of education is time consuming, and physically demanding, exhausting for many.
