The poster of Big Brother portrays the theme of psychological control of the Party over its people. The omnipresent and omniscient image drives the citizens to a degree where their own nerve system is their biggest enemy. Big Brother is the subject that is loved by all Party members. Big Brother emotionally controls the nation. The people worship this god-like figure. Because of its emotional effects, the rationality is wiped out. Hence, anything that Big Brother states is unquestionably true, because there is no rational to question it. According to WinstonЎЇs memory, Big Brother emerges to the nation by the year of 1960. However, it is 1930 according to the PartyЎЇs official records. This symbolizes the power of manipulating the past and controlling the present. Big Brother represents one of the many achievements by the Party though the control of all information and data. This is another major theme of OrwellЎЇs work. The Party constantly modifies all type of record: books, newspapers, magazines, films, photographsÐŽ­est. in order the support all prediction and actions done by the Party, and further controls the mind by proofing to be always right according to every record.

During the Hate Week, the Party changes its shifts its diplomatic allegiance, so the nation it has been at war with suddenly becomes its ally, and its former ally is now its new enemy.
