Restaurants

Employees at a restaurant have to work as a team to serve their guests. For example the host has to work with the waiters to tell them they have people in their section. The waiter has to tell the chef what the person ordered. All the employees have certain responsibilities that they have to fulfil to make the night a success.

The restaurant host is responsible for greeting new arriving guest to the restaurant. It’s their job to welcome and seat them, and take their drink order. Responsibilities of the host also consist of monitoring the seating chart, estimating wait times, and ensuring the needs of the guests are met while they wait. The host is also responsible for answering the phone, booking reservations, and moving tables together for large parties.

The waiter’s responsibilities at a restaurant are to serve meals to customers and make the atmosphere comfortable. All waiters that work at a restaurant must know the items that are served on the menu, and if possible give a brief description of them. Other responsibilities consist of getting their beverage and food orders, and delivering them within a timely manner. Also the waiter needs to be able to carry the tray of food from the kitchen to the table, sometimes these things can be heavy. The waiter is also responsible for clearing dirty dishes from the tables and deliver the guest’s bill and thank them for dining at the restaurant.

The executive chef has the responsibility of making sure everyone is doing their job in the kitchen. For example, the chef’s duties are to ensure that the dishes are served on schedule and to see that no problems arise. He is also expected to modify and create new menu items as needed. He can also make administrative decisions, this includes ordering supplies as needed and reporting them to the boss.

All of these components are needed to make a restaurant run smoothly. The host, waiter, and chef all work together as a team to prepare the meals and serve them to the guest.
