William Shakespeare wrote the play A Midsummer Night's Dream between 1595 and 1596. In Shakespeare's famous comedy love is an important concept. The different characters have different views on love that they express, and throughout the play, Shakespeare portrays a general attitude about it. In addition to loves conflict with violence, the play shows passions conflict with reason. Egeus view of the world conflicts with Hermia's idea of love and freedom.
