Pablo Picasso was known for his sculpting, ceramics, paintings, and drawings. He was born in Malaga, Spain, and proved to be skilled at artistics by the time he was fifteen. At that young age, he joined a group of intellectuals and artists, and also made his first trip to Paris, which at the time was the center of painting. During this time frame, Picasso experimented with Pointillism, Impressionism, and Symbolism, which were very important aspects of art in the 1800s. His first style his artistic creativity was known as the Blue Period, mostly because of the feelings expressed in his artwork. They expressed sadness and alienation, depicted in drawings of people shaded blue. Picasso, in 1904, moved to France. He continued to live in France until his death in 1973. In 1904, he adopted the theme of Circus, which demonstrated a mood much more optimistic than the Blue Period. He also used warmer colors in his paintings. In 1912, Picasso started with Collage, a style of painting which involved putting many different materials into his paintings. After World War I, he composed art in a style descending from classical art, which involved huge and stately figures. By the 1920s, he created his art in a cubist-related style, and concentrated on only two themes which were The artist and Model, and The Bullfight. During World War II, his work became quite less political, and the feeling his work gave off had become more gentle. He then was inspired by historical examples, and created several versions of works from earlier artists.
