Same-sex Marriage as a Norm in the United States of America: An Analysis Based on the Three

Laws of Social Evolution Theory

By Paolo Garcia

Three Laws of Social Evolution Theory, also known as the the three laws of stages, is theorized by a french philosopher, Auguste Comte. Three laws of social evolution is divided into three stages namely: the theological stage, the metaphysical stage and the positive stage, or scientific, stage. Theological stage says that human beings rely on supernatural agencies to explain what they can't explain otherwise. In the metaphysical stage, it says that human beings attribute effects to abstract but poorly understood causes. Finally, in the positive stage, human beings now understand the scientific laws that control the world.

According to Arianne de Vogue and Jeremy Diamond (2015), Supreme Court ruled that same-sex couples can now marry nationwide (United States of America), establishing a new civil right and handing gay rights advocates a historic victory. [pic 2]

Before same-sex marriage was not legalized in the United States of America, their goal was to redefine what marriage means. Hendrik Hertzberg, an advocate for same-sex marriage, believes that marriage should be between a spouse and a spouse, not a gender and a gender. The United States of America’s definition of marriage was once based on the Bible. Their law was once based on the law of God but for the past centuries, so many of the principles were redefined. Chief Justice Roberts said, “Every definition that I looked up prior to about a dozen years ago, defined marriage as a unity between a man and a woman as husband and wife……” On this case, they were in the theological stage because their old defintion of Marriage was based on the Bible.

For centuries, the LGBT community along with the other people who supports them rallied in many areas of USA for the legalization of same-sex marriage. As mentioned awhile ago, the LGBT community believe that marriage should be between a spous[pic 5]e and a spouse, not a gender and a gender. This definition violates or breaches the law of God. They replaced the biblical definition with a new defintion. For so many years, lots of lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgenders along with the other people who supports them gather in many streets around the USA to celebrate their pride commonly known as the LGBT pride. Go to google and search “LGBT rally for rights”, you will see thousands of news about it. They’ve rallied even before the 20th century. On this case, it’s called the metaphysical stage because they wanted to debunk the law of God, and prove that their defintion of marriage is the correct one.
