The Zodiac Killer

The Zodiac Killer case is a criminal case about a mass murder from 1968-1972. The Zodiac killer has 7 confirmed kills and claims to have killed 34 people during this time period. Victims include David Arthur Faraday and Betty lou Jensen killed with a 44m. Luger pistol on Lake Herman Road. The two teens were going on a first date and were spending time at the location, it was known locally as love lane. Michael Mageau and Darlene Ferrin, shot on July 4th in the parking lot of Blue Rock Springs Park in Vallejo California. Mageau survived the attack but was unable to provide much evidence as to any description of who the killer was. Bryan Hartnell and Cecelia Shepard were stabbed at Lake Berryessa, Hartnell survived 8 stabs to the back but had no recognition of who the killer was as he was fully cloaked wearing a riding like hood and clip on sunglasses. Paul Lee Stine was shot and killed in Presidio Heights. All of these kills were in the span of four years and are confirmed by the SFPD to be the same man known as the Zodiac Killer. The Zodiac Killer craved attention and claimed to have killed 34 people over this four year span, providing dates and types of death to handfuls of unsolved murder cases.

The identity of the killer remains unknown, the person(s) was always very careful not reveal his identity and never left behind and traces of evidence, fingerprints, blood, pieces of hair, etc. what makes this serial killer so special from any other serial killing case is that the Zodiac Killer craved attention. He would routinely call in his own murders only hours after committing them. The Zodiac Killer was also known for sending cryptic letters to the SFPD and news companies in the area with clues to murders that had not been found and what his next moves are. Many of the cryptic messages are yet to be unsolved even by some of the most renowned cryptic crackers in the world, a lot of them believe that some of his clues don't actually mean anything and that they are just something used to infuriate the public and law enforcement in an attempt for more attention. This is a power move and the killer was a genious when it came to playing with law enforcement and the public. There was never any evidence found except a partial fingerprint from a taxi of a taxi driver he claimed to drive, but with how high of traffic taxis have and how many hands had been on the handle of the
