Ethics has significant impacts on the medical world according to the opinion about the behaviors of health workers and physicians in approving the decision faced by the doctors and the family of the patients (O'Neill, 2013). Premature birth is a daily problem encountered by the hospitals. Dealing with this situations occurs when the lives of the recent turn ugly. This is, therefore, important in taking appropriate action towards saving the lives of the twins. Goodwill would see doctors and physicians making critical and ethical decisions for better and efficient treatment. According to Kante, human dignity plays an essential role when it comes to decision making.

Most of the medical practitioners employ this theory in conducting the almost impossible medical treatments. For example, the safe surgery by Ben Carson. This develops serious debate which requires the help of the ethical field (Aune, 2014). The complicated case of the premature birth of twin baby boys.one of the twins developed a complication in the lungs and two hemorrhagic emphases and focused on the brain. This led to little hope about their life.

On the ethical perception, three fundamental ethical theories could be applied to find the solution for the twin boys. This study would only consider the Kant’s formula of the categorical imperative in the application of saving the lives of the twins. Kant argued that one should never use others solely as a method but as an end in themselves. The formula is entirely applicable in the association between the children and their parents. For example, in the case of the twins, their parents do not care and seems to lose hope on what to do to save their children, or how much they would pay to keep them (O'Neill, 2013).

This theory (Kant's theory) recognizes the importance of the human dignity. Kant further argued that what matters is the goodwill but not the consequences of the actions. Right from both the medical physicians and parents contribute towards a common goal of treatment as compared to the effects that only creates fear and failure (Aune, 2014). The action is deemed right if it results into positive utility. The implications of the actions or decision are based on the results produced. Based on the early case study, the important ethical theory for critical decision making is the Kant’s formula of the categorical imperative.
