L.I.F.E. Is Life

L.I.F.E. is Life!

As I opened my Facebook account and go over my notifications, this particular question written in all uppercase letters got me thinking, “WHAT IS YOUR PHILOSOPHY IN LIFE?” And as seconds turned to minutes, and minutes turned to hours, I was staring straight on a clean, blank Microsoft document file on my laptop, pondering on the same question all over again. Not until this one word struck me like a lightning bolt – LIFE. So what is life? What is my life really all about? How do I live my life? How do I perceive my life? Then and there it hit me, and I knew that this was probably my Philosophy in life – L.I.F.E. is life!

So what does LIFE mean? It stands for Love. Integrity. Faith. Excellence. You’re probably thinking, “why LIFE?” Let’s go and dig deeper. First is Love, wherein according to a passage “Love conquers all.” It is usually said to be where everything begins. Start with love, and still end with love. Share love. Be passionate. Second is Integrity. I remember there is this saying, “Be honest even if others will not. Be honest even if others are not. Be honest even if other cannot,” which really fits how I like to define integrity – honesty even if or despite of. Third is Faith. First let me ask you, do you believe in miracles? Definitely, some of you might be thinking of different religious opinions and beliefs at the moment. But indeed for me, Faith can make miracles happen, just believe it. Lastly, Excellence. They say that perfection and excellence are two different concepts. What’s the difference? Perfection, as the word suggests means that it should be perfect or strives to be perfect while excellence means doing your very best and yet there is still room for improvement – improvement to become better than your best yesterday or the best that you have already given.

So how did I come up with this Philosophy? What triggered me to say that L.I.F.E. is Life? Where all those things did came from? I remember when I was little, my grandparents would always scold me and they would always tell me and my brother that whatever happens, we should take good care of our integrity, we stand up for what is right. Also, they would take us to church even though we don’t want to, their Faith and perseverance prevailed. And I believe this is one of the reasons that I live by Faith nowadays. In addition, a little flashback from my childhood, I remember that whenever I fail on something, I tend to lose confidence; this became my training ground, my family would teach me to learn how to stand up and face failures. So I still live by it today.
