Core Assignment

I signed the petition called “Break barriers to adolescent girls’ education around the world.” It is about allowing young girls have an education to make a better living for themselves. I support this petition because everyone should have an education.

1. My own attitudes and beliefs have changed by this petition to greater good. I think young girls should be able to have an education because it allows them to have a better way of living. While doing research, I learned that women, much less young girls, are not allowed to learn how to read and write so they won’t be able to disobey their husbands, or men in general. Whether it be just how to read and write simple things, to attending college and getting degrees. Young girls and women to earn a decent wage to live comfortably; they can’t always depend on a man to give them their needs. They should also be able to buy wants and luxuries with their own money. If young girls and women could read and write, the economy would boost tremendously; more money being made for the company, meaning more money being spent on wants and needs of females.
2. I have not had similar life experiences or college work similar to this petition. But my beliefs have not changed; whether it be before or after doing research on this petition. I have and will always belief that young girls have right to education. Lets take rape as an example. Rape has been a big issue, and young girls happen to be a majority of the victims. People complain that a lot of incidents go unclaimed. How do people expect young girls to speak about something bad that happened to them if they cannot read or write, or if they don’t know write from wrong because they have never been informed or educated about these kinds of things.
3. What I learned about myself is that I think females should be able allowed to do whatever they set their minds to. They shouldn’t always depend on other people, men in this instance. Lets say a young female has just invented a way of detecting if a male wants to rape them by the changing color of their lipstick when the two people kiss. Obviously the inventor is going to want other females to work for her and come up with lipstick color that they know will sell and will look good on girls. When lipsticks are being produced the economy is getting better. When those girls spend their own money on their wants and needs, obviously the economy if getting even better because money is going back into the economy. All of this goes back to young girls being able to get an education.  
4. I do think me signing this petition will help people because maybe then young girls will be allowed an education. There are some very smart females out there. If young girls were allowed an education in third world countries, who knows what they might invent or discover; who knows where we would be in the future and what kinds of things there will be.
