Analysis of Barack Obama's 2004 Keynote Address

The speaker is Barack Obama; and it was on the occasion of the democrats National Convention. The audience is members, representatives, or delegates of the political party the democrats. The text is Barack Obamas speech from 2004, the theme of the text is the American dream. During the first half of his speech he talks about how he and his parent both have lived the American dream.

"Let's face it, my presence on this stage is pretty unlikely. My father was a foreign student, born and raised in a small village in Kenya"

Faith is additionally a theme of his speech.

"That is the true genius of America, a faith -- a faith in simple dreams, an insistence on small miracles;"

It is highly plausible that the intention of the speech is to renew the Americans hope and faith in their beloved country.

The language is rather formal, Obama uses mostly long sentences, and he uses correct grammar throughout the speech. His vocabulary is varied and nuanced, yet the average American is completely able to understand the speech.

"-- People don't expect government to solve all their problems. But they sense, deep in their bones, that with just a slight change in priorities, we can make sure that every child in America has a decent shot at life"

There are no elements of slang used in the speech.

The style is rational as Obama does not

I believe that Barack Obama in his speech achieve his intentions. The speech is genuinely immensely well written, and performed with a thoroughly and with a large amount of conviction.
