Prewrite One

When I glared into the eyes of my grandfather, my hero, but most of all my best-friend, I had no idea that I would never see those dark brown eyes again. My best-friends life was stumbling and for the first time in my life I knew that I had nothing. I wanted to die, no more nights knowing he was there if I needed anything, but instead at night I was tired, I physically and mentally just wanted to close my eyes and never open them again. My best-friend was falling, but how fast, I failed to grasp it until that last and most painful visit. Nobody knew how bad my grandfather was suffering laying in that hospital not being able see his dogs or smell the fragrance of cinnamon throughout the house, not being able to eat anything but ice because he was hooked up to a feeding tube. My grandfather was a tree, his roots stuck in the middle of the hospital, hooked to all sorts of machines not being able to move while his branches fell one by one. With every branch he lost the more pain it caused him, he was ready to be better and go home, we were all ready for him to go home. There was no getting better the doctors said he could go home and spend what time he has left with his dogs and getting to eat the food he loves. One thing they never mention is how hard it is.

Prewrite Two

To go to competition after competition, it requires a lot of hard work, long hours practicing, and a very strong sense of commitment from you and your team members.

“Wake up, today’s championship day,” said my mom.

“I’m so tired, but then again I’m really excited for today,” I replied.

I got up, got dressed, slicked my hair back and jumped in the car to head to my high school. Almost everyone was there. I helped my friend Mary get our equipment ready to load onto the bus.

Finally it was time to load the buses, as the day went on, we talked, listened to music and some even sung out loud together to pass the time. I ended up falling asleep again until we got there.

“Wake up, were here!” Said my friend Mary shaking me lightly.

I slowly sat up stretched and yawned, we were finally here at Morehead State University and I was more excited than ever.
