Cause and Effect of Selling Organs

There are causes and effects revolving around the issues of selling human organs and they are spreading all over the world, this is not just a topic you hear about in certain countries. It is everywhere and selling human organs is illegal everywhere as well. There are places that have seen huge increases in the black market, as well people selling their body parts for a profit. This all has been going on for years, but the police have yet to find them. They are placed all over in serious criminal systems where they get professional medical people and locals to sell their stuff (Pete Peterson, 2013). At this point in time, the only thing that is legal when dealing with organs is, the right to donate organs. Some of the organs must be donated from the already diseased donors because the organs that are being donated a person alive cannot function without. Even with this being said and proven, people are still trying to sell these organs. People are just about to do anything to receive an organ nowadays due to the shortage. The people who need these organs are mostly the poor. The black market is where most of the organ sells and trades come in from people looking for help. It is easy for anyone to find what they are looking for on the black market such as organs needed for a donor and it is easier for the person to sell these organs as well to get the money they are looking for in selling these organs. This is causing a lot of issues and problems in and around the organ industries and there should be plans or solutions that are in place that can help. The black market most likely will never die and will always be around even from anything that tries to cut the markets down, and most the human organs should come through the process of donations.

The questions are being debated upon if human organs are to be donated or sold due to the shortage issue and for those who need a human organ. Right now, much of people that are selling their organs are the ones that are desperate and poor, most cannot find any other ways of making a living and they have ran out of other options to support their families and themselves. Therefore, they think that selling their organs, not legally donating them but illegally by selling to the black market. The events that are happening in Costa Rica is the reality of what is going on all over, possibly even in your own city. It starts with a rumor made by a “snitch” who then goes from person to person, mostly the locals and the poor who need to make a profit and willing to sell an organ to make that profit, such as a kidney. These appointments are usually for a cash payment and are usually set up in a certain place such as a small food chain and local businesses. Most of these places that the clients come to are set up to look like professional places and this is done by hiring staff members of the medical field illegally. After they do the surgery and remove the organ, they then call the person that is receiving the organ and let them know the news. They then prepare the person to travel to another country where they do the surgery illegally to put the organ in the recipient. This whole process is cruel and it is taking advantage of those who do not have the money to survive. “Outside of Costa Rica, reports have shown other heinous ways to harvest organs, including abducting and drugging adults, children, and babies” (Peterson, 2013). This is a terrible event that children and babies are being affected by the selfish acts of organ sales and trafficking. There is a need for laws to surround the black market to help protect against issues such as this from happening.

On the other side of human organ sales, it is affecting every race and age. These issues are very real and everyone in the world around us needs to realize that the human organ trafficking is not a fairytale that it is very much real. The big topic question that still causes the biggest arguments is whether to legalize the sale of human organs. Should the selling of organs become legal, if it is mostly coming for the poor? The effects of this could be a major issue, the industry is taking advantage of the poor and this could be a major issue. Some of the poor are not in the greatest of health as some cannot get a good health plan. If the selling of human organs was to become legal, the organs would need to not be taken just from poor people but everyone, but the truth is “most of these organs come from the very poor people. Those opposed to legalization of payments for organs fear a similar trade in this country, with pressures brought to bear on the poor to sell their bodies in a literal sense” (Electronic Ardell Wellness Report, 2002). These people believe there is no other options available to make it other than to sell an organ, should not resort to such dangerous measures. Truth is, even with the job shortage as low as it is now there is still jobs out there for everyone, there is still other options other than chancing such high risk selling your organs for money. They can get help through the state, shelters, and even food banks to help feed their families. Our country needs to focus on helping more of the lower income people who are struggling with the options of finding a source of income or whatever the family needs so they can make a living and not have to be forced to sell an organ.

As a different view on this this matter of the selling of the organs be to make the sale of the human organs legal in the United States and around the world. A gentleman by the name of Rob Lawler explains it as; “We should accept that we all form one body. Furthermore, we should conceive of our bodies
