Explain how monopolies harm consumers and hurt the economy.

Monopolies is there only one supplier of a product in a given markets, and thus the supplier is able to determine the price without regulatory limit. I think that monopolies is harming the consumer because there are no guidelines to what they can price which can cause price gladding. When you can set you own problem then you can charge anything you want. This hurt the economy because people cannot afford it and it is causing the money to be taken away from the economy when you have to go elsewhere to get the same product at affordable price.

What is a nation's balance of trade? How do a trade surplus and a trade deficit differ?

The total values of a country's exports minus the total value of its import, over some period of time. Trade surplus is favorable trade balance created when a country export more than it imports. Trade deficit is unfavorable trade balances when a country imports more than it exports. The different is that trade deficit is unfavorable balance and trade surplus is favorable balances.

Discuss the significance and importance of small business in the U.S. economy.

Small business is the cornerstone of the U.S. economy. They bring new ideas, processes and vigor to the marketplace (Boveé, Thill, and Mescon 197). Small business is important for many reasons: they provide jobs to the US the business provide jobs for about half of the private-sector workplace in this country. They introduce new products they find ways that material so that they have the freedom to innovate that is characteristic of many small firms continues to yield countless advantage in both technologies and marketable goods and service ((Boveé, Thill, and Mescon 197). They supply the need of large organization. They inject a considerable amount of money into the economy. The take risks that larger companies sometime avoid. They provide specialized goods and service. The significance of the small business I that it helps people get jobs that can help them is profitable.

Describe just-in-time (JIT) systems. What requirements are needed for JIT systems to be effective?

Just-in-time is defined as continuous system that pull materials through the production process, making sure that all material arrives jut when they are needed with minimal inventory and waste (Boveé, Thill, Mescon pg. G-8 glossary). The just in time system is to make sure that the right material get to the right people. The just in time is something that you have to have to me it mean that it the steps that need to be completed at a certain time to make sure that there are not material laying place that it is not supposed to be there. Just in time mean just that just in time to complete a task. the requirement for JIT include multifunctional teamwork, flexible manufacturing, small-batch production, strict production control, quick setups, consistent production level, preventive maintenance and reliable supplier networks.
